I wish I had my camera......

Today I wish I'd had my camera.  As the boys began their pre-game routine it became very clear that there was a wonderful video moment just waiting to be captured.  I vow to catch the boys doing jumping jacks on video before the season is over.  That was the funniest thing I have seen in a while and I hope to catch it next time.  Coach, next time.... please let them do more of them.  Five just doesn't keep me laughing long enough.  I needed a few extra seconds of the flailing arms and legs.  Completely out of sync and unsure of proper technique, the boys went at it with everything they had.  No two boys were alike.  Every boy had their own version and style.  Some just jumped up and down while others got the arms or the legs going.  I even saw a boy standing with his legs spread as wide as possible, bouncing in this stance while waving his arms up and down.  Oh the joy!  And the joy it will bring for years to come as I show the video to every girlfriend he will bring home and of course.... the high school graduation video.... this must make another appearance for graduation.  I know I probably won't win best mommy of the year over this plan, but I can live with that.  Oh and I promise to share the video on this blog when I do capture it!  You know you thought it was funny too.....  ;-)

The first game

Boy oh boy, was it fun to watch these little boys play.  My heart sank as the very first play ended in a touchdown for the opposing team, but our little boys found a way back.  Before our very eyes our boys adjusted their game and grew up just a little more all in one hour.  We started our journey back with the first touchdown by Bo.  With that touchdown, the boys tasted a bit of the rush of success and stepped it up a notch.  We pulled flags and made plays of our own eventually 'scoring' two more touchdowns and a 'point after'.  Even though score was not kept and tackles were not allowed, this game was fun to watch and the boys seemed to enjoy themselves.  Can't wait to see what this season holds!

Introduction and Snack List

Hello All,

My name is Lacy Armstrong and I am Grant's mom.  I talked to Coach Laughlin and volunteered to help organize the snacks for our kids.  We have 11 boys on the team.  I know my boy is always up for a snack after playing hard plus it gives the kids a chance to hang out a bit to get to know each other.  Just to let you know, we have two boys with allergies that I am aware of.  My son is severely allergic to dairy and anything containing dairy protein; we also have another boy who is allergic to dairy and wheat.  If you could keep that in mind with the snacks, it would be appreciated.  I will be happy to give snack options if you would like them.  I brought snacks on Tuesday and packed a variety since I didn't know what to expect.  Please don't feel like this is necessary.  A simple snack and a small drink is great.  Lynn Smith (Caleb and Cole's mom) will be bringing chips and a drink for Saturday snack.    Below is a list of practices and games as I know them (dates in red are games).  Please add your name to the date of your choice.  I will send out an automatic reminder a couple days before your date.
